Are Colored Contacts Safe? The 5 Non-Negotiables for Healthy, Beautiful Eyes

"Are those contacts safe?" It's one of the most common and important questions we hear. The answer is a resounding yes—if you follow essential safety protocols. Beautiful eyes should never come at the cost of your health. Let's demystify colored contact lens safety.

1. Certification is Key: Always Choose FDA-Approved Lenses

This is your first and most crucial line of defense. FDA approval means the lens material has been rigorously tested for biocompatibility and safety. All our lenses, from Ash Stardust to HD Chocolate, are FDA-approved. Beware of unverified sellers online; your eye health is not worth the risk.

2. The Perfect Fit is Non-Negotiable

A lens that doesn't fit properly can scratch your cornea or deprive it of oxygen. Our lenses are designed with a 14.2mm diameter and high-water content, making them suitable for a wide range of eyes while ensuring comfort and oxygen flow. If a lens feels too tight or moves excessively, it's not the right fit.

3. Master the Art of Lens Hygiene

This is where most problems start. Proper care is simple but non-negotiable.

  • Wash & Dry: Always wash and thoroughly dry your hands before handling lenses.

  • Rub & Rinse: Even with "no-rub" solutions, gently rubbing your lenses with fresh solution removes protein buildup.

  • Fresh Solution Only: Never "top off" old solution in your case. It's a breeding ground for bacteria.

  • Case Care: Replace your lens case every three months and let it air dry.

4. Adhere Strictly to the Replacement Schedule

Do not try to extend the life of your lenses. 6-month lenses are designed for 6 months of use from the day you open them. Using them longer increases the risk of protein and lipid deposits, which can harbor bacteria and reduce clarity and comfort.

5. Listen to Your Eyes

Your eyes will tell you when something is wrong. Remove your lenses immediately if you experience:

  • Persistent redness or pain

  • Blurred vision

  • Sensitivity to light

  • Unusual discharge

If symptoms continue, consult an eye doctor promptly.

By choosing certified lenses like our ultra-soft, high-moisture collection and committing to these five rules, you can enjoy the confidence of colored contacts with complete peace of mind.
